10-28-21   THOUGHTS

This Sunday morning we will study Jesus as the bread of life in the auditorium class.  This morning, we see some scripture painting him as the LIVING WATER!  These are beautiful metaphors.
Isa 41:17   "The afflicted and needy are seeking water, but there is none, And their tongue is parched with thirst; I, the LORD, will answer them Myself, [As] the God of Israel I will not forsake them.
Isa 55:1-3    "Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk Without money and without cost. 2  "Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance.  3  "Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, According to the faithful mercies shown to David.
Ps 36:7-9    How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. 8  They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. 9  For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.
John 7:37-39     Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38  "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’" 39  But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
John 4:10-14      Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." 11  She said to Him, "Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water? 12  "You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?" 13  Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; 14  but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life."
Rev 21:6   Then He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.
1Cor 10:1-4     For I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea; 2  and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3  and all ate the same spiritual food; 4
and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.

My Prayer:
Thank you O God tor Christ our rock and the living water.  Teach us to drink more fully and continually.  Help us to incline our hearing to you, and listen that we might live.  Spring up within us O Lord, with the life from above that comes through Christ Jesus.  How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!     In Jesus name               Amen
